ABOUT

'Fat people are harder to kidnap.' F/W 0809

The show started with a playfull translation of the straitjacket. A complex construction of sleeves which - once seperated - could be worn in the form of a wearable skirt or sweater with sleeves of 5 metres. The faces of all the models seemed to be fallen in and the mouths where shut by silver and red duck tape which was put on in the shape of a smile. The collection became more colourfull because of the addition of luxe denim and later on because of the print of the collection; the collection title in the vorm of a 'ransom letter' in cut out letters token from fashionhouses, media and fastfood multinationals. Thick and thin, large and small have been brought together within an outfit in several ingenious ways. Elegant sweaters with nice too long sleeves, an evening dress that is based on only a sleeve, a mega-sweater which is knitted from the bands of jogging of dozens other sweaters and there even passed by an unwarped little black dress.

This collection was about the ancient question 'thick versus thin'. The whole presentation pleads for being fat, but with a slightly ironical tone beneath the surface. In fact I do not answer on this question, but it did result in a small fashion party!
