by ANTOINE PETERS

Antoine was born in Vorden at the country side of the Netherlands. He studied at the Art Academy in Arnhem (NL) as well at the mastercourse Fashion Institute Arnhem (NL). Antoine has working experience at Viktor & Rolf and the dutch Avantgarde magazine. Now the fanatic soccerplayer is living and working in Amsterdam.

ANTOINE PETERS is known for his A SWEATER FOR THE WORLD! project, but in the meantime Peters already gathered even more reputation by presenting several successful collections at the Amsterdam International Fashion Week with titles like 'I will never wear a sweater.', 'Le petit Antoine.', 'Fat people are harder to kidnap!', 'To make an elephant out of a mosquito.' and 'I'm with stupid.'

Antoine is called 'one of Holland's most promising designers' by the renowned WGSN.com and I-D. He recently proudly is covered as one of the world's hundred most innovative young designers in the '100 new fashion designers' book by Hywel Davies.

ANTOINE PETERS is a search for playfulness, naivety, social criticism, open-mindedness, self-mockery and fantasy. The concepts generally are based on undermining and commenting negativity. More serious matter is brought in a light manner, with the arising of a new unbiased perspective as a result. The work brings airyness by means of concept, but also literally in the clothing and installations itself. Antoine loves to play with extremes and proportions in material, print, silhouette and concept. By mixing or even amalgamate these extremes he tries to create a renewing playful form of elegance; in which he especially is interested in the draping and direction of the material. ANTOINE PETERS stands for a smile and optimism.

Antoine also initiates and participates in projects like the concept direction and design of dancecostumes, dressed actress Hadewych Minis for Nadine the movie, the KILLING FASHION installation/collection for the Dutch Fashion Biennial, the 'happy burka' which did put the stereotype burka in a fresh context and is guest teacher at the Arnhem Academy of Art and Design.
